I have a link to a cdrom you can download to fix grub boot probs with Ubuntu. Ill dig it up and send it to the list.

Failing that, I'm just over at Annandale so it shouldn't be too far for me to travel to take a look at your lappy.

Hi Michael
Yes it is a lap top and I would do that only my brother has terminal cancer
and he is back in hospital and so I am now packing to go to support him in
the final hours of his life on this Earth
