Any attempt to run sane as a user segfaults. Running from CLI as sudo gives me a
message warning of impending doom if I run as root, but doesn't segfault. It
dosn't work either, although that could be because the scanner attached isn't
recognised (Samsung SCX 4725 with it's own proprietary sane drivers!).

Google references to the problem seem to all be years old, so probably out of date.
This happens on both Hardy/Desktop and Intrepid/Asus M51K Laptop
Any thoughts appreciated.
