Hi Ben,
Quoting Ben <shadroth@xxxxxxxxx>:
Searching for a scanner that's plug and play.
I've got one of those HP Photosmart printers (the c6180) which are a
printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, replicator all in one jobs. It
really did work pretty much right out of the box (I think I had to
install one package from the Ubuntu repos to get the GUI for it
working, some qt3 package that wasn't installed by default).
I've had quite alot of experience with HP printers and scanners over
the years and one thing that I've noticed with them is that if you
can't find a specific driver for a newer product of their's, they'll
just about always work with one the older drivers (although you might
get slightly less features than the actual device supports).
Regards,
Dave.
