Use CentOS, as suggested. It's a rebuild of RHEL.

... are you describing Red Hat?! Red Hat are tough, if not the toughest,
proponents of true FLOSS freedoms among the major distro vendors today. You
had these concerns while considering doing a *SuSE* course?
