 much ranting about ubuntu over the years, now I choose it ...

I have installed ubuntu for my son-in-law. All is well except that he wants to 
listen (see?) pod-casts eg http://www.brr.com.au
I installed automaticix on edgy, including mplayer and all the codecs.

The media player opens, downloads, then complains about:

Audio codec mpeg 2 layer 3 CBR not handled

I'm lost. Is there a way ahead and can anybody show me
