There's also xtermcontrol ( http://www.thrysoee.dk/xtermcontrol/ )
which is in Debian unstable and Ubuntu.
xtermcontrol --title="Whatever the hell you want"
should do the trick. It also allows you to set the foreground
and background colours (I often use different BG colours for
each machine I'm logged into) and some other stuff.
