[SLUG] subversion

I'm trying to get a

    svn commit --non-interactive

command to work automatically in the background from a script.  But svn
barfs, saying

    svn: Commit failed (details follow):
    svn: Can't get password

It doesn't fail when I run the script in the foreground.
What is the correct way to do this?
