As others have mentioned, you can use kannel, etc... but most of require the
use of a gsm mode.
If you intend to do high amounts of traffic, or want to use premium numbers
( 199xxxx ) and therefore send and receive message across all carriers, then
you are better off getting in touch a content provider [ such as us ; ) ] who
have direct access to the carrier's SMSC.
Yes, we use a combination of Linux and Solaris.
