dunno - http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/hcn.html seems to have
some info. (probably yes just fine)
rpc1.org seems to suggest that the sony dru-700a I bought is a rebadged
liteon. the region free liteon patchy thing seemed to work fine.
How portable are the disks? Will they write single layer disks as well
which can be read on "normal" DVD drives?
yeah its a single-layer dvd burner as well as cdrw etc
the disks are pretty similar to the ones you rent at the video store.

that review seems good enough. thats the drive I got. its a sony.
I'm considering getting one, but was going to wait until they got a little
more stable/available - but at $165, that'd do nicely.
that was my price. I saw them in megamart for $255 I think - but who
would by there :)
