The latest version of Real Player is 10. The Linux version is available
from the Helix project at :-
https://player.helixcommunity.org/2004/downloads
Download the RealPlayer 10 Gold RPM for Linux/x86.
You don't need a web browser plugin.
When you first click on a RAM file your web browser will ask you whether
to save or open the file with another program. Answerr "with another
program" and give it the liocation of realplay (it should be install in
/usr/local/RealPla or similar library).
any problems report back.

Hi All,
I am seeking to install a program with an .RPM extension using YaST. I
am currently using SuSe Prof. v9.1 with KDE as my desktop.
I am a new linux user, and I am seeking some very basic help here.
The program I am seeking to install is RealPlayer 8.0.
Also is this the latest version available to Linux? Is there an
alternative way to playing .RAM media files?
Do I also need a web browser plug-in so that the .RAM files will
automatically play when I surf through the internet?
Please note that I am currently using Konqueror and also Mozilla to surf
the net.
As far as I can see there is no shockwave player available for Linux, is
there someway of installing an alternative program that will run these
kind of files? Or is my solution to install the software via WINE or
CrossOver ...
Have a good weekend all.
Thanks,
Dom L.
