Almost all SCSI Tape drives adhere to basic SCSI tape standards, so should
just work.
Note however, that Travan are typically the lowest priced, and lowest
quality tape backup solution.
I generally say that with backups, you have to choose the "Pay Now" or
"Pay Later" option..
Travan seem to have cheap drives, but really expensive tapes.
DDS have expensive drives, but relatively cheap tapes..
ADR drives are not bad, but again, quite expensive tapes.
I think DLT's are just expensive all around :) But then, they generally
backup huge amounts of data, but are hideously slow.
AIT seems nice, but proprietary to Sony and expensive.
DVD's and CD's are too small, and not really automatable.
I don't think there is a really good general answer for backup, especially
backup that can be taken offsite.
