mine's similar but using sasl auth. lots (and lots and lots) of 
googling seems demonstrate there's two types of cyrus users out there: 
those that got it going first go and those that had the same problem as 
us and never got a reply to their posting. :-(

which is really why i wanted to talk to a human that has some 
experience. a five minute, ok 10 minute chat is worth so much more than 
a weeks worth of mailing lists and googling.
