[SLUG] Mounting USB devices?

Folks.

Does anyone know if you can/how to mount USB devices?

I have a Kodak digital camera for which I have just discovered the USB
connection now works [Mandrake 9's kernel actually likes my USB port,
which I couldn't get to work previously}.

However, the only matching device is a characted device, not a block
device, which means I've gotta use GPhoto to download the pics.

It'd be much easier if I could just mount the device somewhere and use CP.

Anyone know if this is possible? if so, how?
