Re: [SLUG] PCI ADSL modems

I'd agree. Steer clear of PCI ADSL modems - stick to ethernet ones. Also, a tip from a Telstra technician who came out to a place where I had installed ADSL and was having connection problems (it wouldn't stay connected - in fact would disconnect for hours at a time) - stay away from DLink as far as ADSL modems go. Changed to a NetGear and the problem went away - nothing to do with the line as originally thought.

Hi all,

has anyone had any experience with setting up PCI ADSL Modem? There seems
to be almost nothing in google about it; should that be enough of a reason
to not go that way? It would be a shame, because one less addition to the
cable HELL under my desk would be a blessing!

cheers.
Jonathan.

I would generally steer clear of any ADSL modem besides an ethernet one especially of you want to use it with linux (unless the manufacturer provides linux drivers for it)

Ethernet ones are getting pretty cheap these days and offer much more ease in setting up.
