As mentioned before, the Apple community is pretty strong. So let
google do the walking and see what the Apple aficionado sites have to
say about various hardware issues that aren't related to what OS you're
running. Three that pertain to my 12" Powerbook include warped cases,
an intermittent "clicking noise" from the speakers from time to time,
and sometimes curtailed battery life (with bluetooth, 802.11b, and full
brightness on the screen I only get just over 2 hrs charge).
I think with Apple these issues are put under closer scrutiny than you
would find with a Dell or Toshiba, so the chances of finding
resolutions are pretty high.
I can't think of another hardware vendor that attracts the kind of
loyalty Apple do ...
