Never really gave it a thought. I'm sure it's very nice and I'll probably
have a tinker when I first get it (I've never used Mac stuff of any
flavour before) but I'll use linux on it for the same reason I've been
using linux on my home pc, it's the right thing to do and I'm able. Why it
is "right" is probably preaching to the converted here (unless esr's
little rant in RevolutionOS scared all you "communists" away  :)

Never really considered the ethics of proprietary hardware though which I guess
an ibook is. Probably not a topic for main list though.

If you're asking because Linux runs like a dog on an ibook and runs much better on x86 then I guess that's the kind of info I'm looking for.
