[SLUG] System turns off from X windows But not from console .An almost impossible question

Kernel experts ..................

Can anyone tell me why does my PC does NOT turn OFF from the console?

When  it turns off from Gnome.

 

 

 

EG.

 

When halting  from  the console my PC doesn't turn off!

.....

....

Halting system...

flushing ide devices: hda hdd

System halted.

################################################

 

However when shutting down from the X (gnome) my PC  INDEED  will turn off!
