[SLUG] mirror.pacific.net.au - down ?

You are quite correct - I should not have included the 'www' - it was a typo, and we all make them. There is quite a large literature on the analysis of human error in various systems.

Nevertheless, the main question is still valid. Whenever I do something as basic as 'apt-get install cups' I get the message that it 'cannot stat mirror.pacific.net.au' (etc).

I don't know if the local mirror server is down (possible) or whether it is a local error.

Is anyone else having the same problem ?

I don't run debian, but even I can spot the obvious error:

   www.mirror.pacific.net doesn't exist.
   www.mirror.pacific.net.au doesn't exist.
mirror.pacific.net.au does exist - is this what you meant?
