Re: [SLUG] contrib sources???

Just to clarify, Paul's post was about Mandrake Linux
(www.madrake-linux.com) a totally different distrobution from Redhat. It
was based on RedHat but has long since evolved and contains its own
package management system very similar to apt but using rpms called
'user rpm' (urpmi). Theres an article at linux.com that compares the two
but the author obviously doesn't know what he's on about so probably
better not read it :).

User rpm, like apt uses sources (ftp, http, cdrom rsync etc.), and has
the different sources for the version of mandrake, the testing version
(reffered to as 'cooker'), and the contributed packages. These packages
are _very_ actively maintained (just subsribe to the cooker mailing
list) but for some reason plannet mirror does not mirror the 'contrib'
source but does mirror all the others, at one point they did and the
folder and symlinks are still there.

For mandrake users in Australia (that don't have unlimited access to the
wireplay file servers) this is quite annoying as it is the only
Australian source.
