Ooh.... Compression MUCH bad mojo !!!
If we are talking DDS drives here, a 120m tape will hold 4Gb uncompressed
(8 Gb compressed assuming 2:1 which you will NEVER get), and a 125m tape
holds 12G (24G compressed) on a DDS3 drive.
As I 'm sure the respected Crossfire will wax lyrically, compression is a
PITA - it saves tapes BUT try recovering data from one.
