Re: [SLUG] Watching DVD's under Linux

On Fri 31 May, Jeff Waugh made the following spurious claims:

Actually, I would recommend Ogle right now. It is the only player
I've found to support all my DVDs menuing systems. However I actually
use mplayer because I have a DVD decoder card and Ogle doesn't support
such things yet.

Mplayer has come a long way. The developers are still bastards and
treat anyone who can't write their own multimedia player software with
contempt. However, compiling and running it isn't as hard as it used
to be. The main challenge is satisfying all the dependencies which I
imagine would be a nightmare on any distribution that doesn't use
apt-get.

Mplayer now does run-time CPU detection so they're allowing binary
distribution. That should make things a lot easier. The GUI still
sucks though.
