I didn't even think about modutils, thanks Peter! You'd just have
to make sure hotplug was rmmod'ing the unused modules properly. And
mtools sounds even better if it bypasses all the kernel stuff.
Time to look into customising 'mc' so it has copy and mcopy, or look
deeper into 'sync' as suggested by gus.
