[SLUG] util to find stuff/modules compiled into the kernel?

all,

is there a way to find out what is part of the kernel, ie which modules
have been compiled into the kernel, meaning which modules I do not have
to start by including them into the mosules.conf file?

Reson for this is that I am having trouble with my IPCHAINS stuff.
RH6.2 used to come by default with the ipchains module as part of the kernel,
7.1 does not, so I included it into the modules.conf file:

 alias ipchains_filter ipchains

Yet when I then load the ipchains rules it comes up complaining about

 ipchains: Protocol not available

So something is wrong.

Hence I thought I would like to know what is part of the kernel.

Any ideas?
