[SLUG] Linux on a Presario 1700 notebook?

Hi,
 I am about to get a 1700 presario notebook as a replacement for a notebook 
that was stolen (I haven't been given much option as to which notebook I get) 
so..... I have my fingers crossed that it will be compatible. Can't find much 
info about it except that the built in network/modem is a connexant (bummer) 
does any one know of other problems/issues? Any suggestions of similar spec 
notebooks -P111 800, 128mb ram, dvd, 15gig hd ATI mobility video, 10/100 
ethernet (maybe if I jump up and down and hold my breath until I turn 
blue....)
