[SLUG] Simple linux laptop question

I'm about to buy a hand full of laptops. Out here is the sticks we don't
get much choice with brands and they have to be Dells or ASI's. ASI seem
to have a laptop supply problem so it has to be Dell this week.

One of the main functions of the laptops is to present lectures (yes
with Linux not WinXX).

We need the external monitor and LCD work, with Linux, in the 3 modes:

  1. LCD Only
  2. External monitor only
  3. LCD + External monitor

The Dell Latitude CPx I tried only had the first 2 modes.

Does anyone know what modes work with the Latitude C600, C800 or any
of the Inspiron models?
