Hi,
I have a bunch of machines connected to the net
behind my Linux gateway (with optus cable) that all
get fine speeds. The gateway itself however, is
extremely sluggish eg. firing off a http request for a
US site might result in 10Kb/s, then suddenly die off.
Pages will arrive in a few minutes if they are under
50K!
Someone mentioned a while back that this could be due
to IP masq timeout values. The closest thing I found
in the IP masq HOWTO was:
<snipped>
# 10 sec timeout for traffic after the TCP/IP "FIN"
packet is received
/ipchains -M -S 7200 10 60
I'm not sure if this really relates to the problem I
am having (I am not having TCP sessions timeout
quickly)?
This is a big inconvenience for me, so any help at
all would be appreciated.
Regards,
Alex
