[SLUG] running c++

i have just installed redhat7 on my machine. i wrote a small prog in
c++. it compiled good but when i tried to run it using a.out, i got the
message a.out command not known. i tried to search the man pages about
the a.out, i got the message no man page for a.out. i like to tell you
i am very familiar with c++ but i do not know why it did work on rh7.
my prog name is prog.c.  a.out is generated after the compilation. do
you know what i do wrong?
