there's supposed to be a new one coming any time now.
I've been waiting to try it too.

They seem to have a problem in that there's way too long
between releases and then when they do release a version
it ends up using "not quite the latest" stuff (eg. this
new version seems like it will dip out on the 2.4 series
kernel).

Most people seem to then patch it up to date once installed.
But I can't really be bothered with that and would just like
it all on a CD to be able to install it in one go.

Also, if there's any debianites reading this, is there a
good simple doc somewhere that explains (in simple terms)
what the debian pkg system is about and how to use it?
(dpkg, dselect etc not going into all the millions of options
just the basic install, upgrade, remove etc). I'll shortly
be installing my new gateway machine and would like to use
debian (my current one is using red hat 5.1).

Dave.
