I installed potato on my machine last week. Actually I'm still
installing it, because I did the whole thing over the net with a 33.6
modem connection :) . I think I've downloaded, besides the ~25Mb
required for the base installation, about 160Mb of packages so far (yes,
I used mirror.aarnet.edu.au). That was about 3 overnight sessions of
downloading.
Pretty impressive so far. No major installation problems. I've reported
one bug - the gpm package was not on the ftp site, but was in the
Packages.gz file so apt-get was trying to download it. I don't use gpm
anyway, so it didn't affect me much. You might be able to get away with
installing the one from slink if you do need it.
