[SLUG] Hardware problems (video)

Hi there

After getting my new machine going yeah it works fine

Now I have changed my P200 64mb ram server to be a PII233 256mb ram server
and I knew that the video card was a bit sus so I planned to leave the
existing pci one in there(from the P200) (S3 Trio64V+ 2mb) but when you
startup X it just totally blanks out and chvt dosen't work noting does
have to telnet in and reboot the machine.

2nd try was another pci card (Cirrus Logic GD 5434 - was 1mb but I
transplanted another 1mb into it) NOW it works fine but almost immediately
it froze on me (the screen went totally only the background first)

So it's either text mode only (well for now I want to go to bed!) AND
going back to the agp S3/Virge GX/2 4mb card I had in it before but with
random locks anything could trigger it!

So all three cards have different symptoms!


I suppose I could tryout the Geforce card as well but I don't feel like it

So any pointers to common bios settings and the like that I can try, would
swapping the order of the cards do anything? etc...

Freezing this box is no good because it's raided so it has to be
reconstructed everytime.
