In my last job at a 24-hour servo, I was somewhat frightened to learn
that the banks also schedule downtime for the EFTPOS system sometime
around midnight Sunday nights. Maybe it was just our system, but we
were forced to process everything manually.
Problem was that everybody in the neighbourhood knew about it. That
was when they all got out their stolen credit cards, etc :-P
