Actually, in the English language there is no specific body that dictates
how anything is either said or written. Therefore we tend to take the
Oxford English Dictionary as the defacto authority. If we do accept this
"authority" then we must accept that the Macquarie Dictionary is wrong in
many instances as it accepts the Webster spelling as an alternative. Until
we either accept the rules set down for us by England and its Oxford
English Dictionary or create our own authority, we cannot truly be wrong
no matter how we write/say or spell anything. {;-)
