Hi all,
Software Freedom Day is on the 16th September (this Saturday!) and the
Sydney event has shaped up to be awesome! It has some great workshops and
talks, and we hope we've gotten the word out to the student community to
encourage more people to both understand software freedom but also
participate in the community. The most technical is how to build your own
ISP, but there is also Open Source tools for video/audio and a Linux and
Open Source for students workshop.
Come along, join in the fun and bring the family/friends.
Software Freedom Day is and event to introduce more people to why Software
Freedom matters, and in particular how it is important to maintaining
digital environments we can trust to work and play in. Some good examples
where Software Freedom matters is in e-voting software, and Open Standards
for long term access to your documents. After all, the basic freedoms we
expect are only as free as the technology we rely on. The day will be
of interest to any person interested in how technology is changing their
lives and freedoms.
Where: UNSW - the main hall in the new law building (G04)
When: Saturday 16th from 10am till 5pm
Who: Anyone interested in technology or/and freedom
