Why don't you just set up you mail client to view messages in threaded mode?
The only reason you would find it difficult to follow mailing lists is if
your client is set up in a defective manner, or you have a defective client.
I don't need to go into the details of why web forums suck ten times more
than mailing lists, as i'm sure others would be more than happy to point
this out.
