Umm, sorry to disappoint you, but the US Army has gone in with an
EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE approach right from day one.

All you need to do is look at the casualty figures, the type and mix.

Does anyone remember the movie The Great Escape and the casualty figures
in that? 

Did anyone see Full Metal Jacket and remeber the helicopter ride
sequence? The US Army in Iraq has not changed its approach since then.

Thankfully the Australian Army has and understands what is required
better.
