followup to my message on udf..
from the same www.osta.org website,
they have a standard for metadata
for videos and pictures etc called MPV:
MPV is playlist and asset management control
file for collections of music, photo, and
video files in any combination. A playlist is
an index or table of contents that specifies
the location of files and the order in which
to play them. It is an open, multiplatform,
free specification developed and managed by
the Optical Storage Technology Association
(OSTA). A logo is available to communicate
compatibility, such as between CD burning
software and CD players.
Of course it's XML :-)
What is a bit baffling is that this is supposed
to be supported by all sorts of companies since
2002, yet this is the first I've heard of it.
Perhaps one of the standards bodies for which
membership is small change for companies and
prohibitive for individuals (read oss developers)
Matt
PS. yeah I know this isn't a file system itself,
still it's interesting
PPS.
