Yes laptops are cheap.

I just helped a friend buy a laptop and we bagged a Acer with a 17"
screen P4 2.6mhz 512mb DVD/CD-RW for $2,900. I remember just a year ago
people selling top shelf big screen laptops for well over $6k.

The Acer had a really nice keyboard setup but I must admit wont fit in a
suitcase.
