Yes, granted that whatever they paid for it WAS petty cash for M$, but
it still gives them some "influence" - I'm not getting into conspiracy
theory here, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I mean, what better way to deal with your chief competitor - either buy
them out (impossible) or litigate them out of existance - and get
someone ELSE to do it so you're at arm's length....

You've got to admire the ingenuity of it....
