My take on postfix configuration: It's not hideously dynamic or procedural.
Every manipulation between IN and OUT is split up into easy to grok bite
sized pieces, modified by simple mappings (which may be remote data sources,
regexps, or very simple maps, but they're cut'n'dried).
My take on qmail generally: Who on Earth would want to maintain a source
based, patched to do anything beyond the bare essentials, gob-thwacking
mess? I like binaries with version numbers stamped all over them, because
they're accountable and understandable. Twisty little configuration (and
data! HFSNW...) files.
