A lot of organisations pay lip service to the idea of openness (look at the
number of products and protocols with "Open" is their name - most of whose
only idea of open is "open your wallet and let us suck it dry").  When
discussing the matter of the ICDL and Linux, the ACS basically said "it's MS
Office only - cop that".  Despite the fact that several ECDL courses (which
the ICDL is based on) are run using OOo and other similar packages.

There is that.  Anywhere you're meeting other people with similar interests
and careers is a good place to do that, though, so the ACS can't be
particularly credited in that regard.
