Well google gives for "hook, line and sinker"
http://www.nytimes.com/ref/crosswords/trivia/quiz214.html
quoting the above URL.....
7. What movie is narrated by Jerry Lewis from an operating table where
he is impaled by a swordfish?
Hook, Like and Sinker
The Family Jewels
Slapstick
Visit From A Small Planet
Money From Home
and google shows other sites where ppl say "... or is a sucker and
bought it hook, like and sinker. " and there are lots more.
I had always thought it was 'hook line and sinker' but perhaps its
Australian only? I tried "hook, like and sinker" with combinations of
"origin" and "phrase" but no luck.
