Well, automake will still be useful, but autoconf?  Not necessary.  My
problem is not with automake.  Actually, my main problem is with stupid
sysadmins who install things in /usr/local/Program\ Files/apache/ and world
domination ain't gonna stop them.

lol. :)  And point them at Cygwin.
                                                                                
make unfortunately isn't very efficient at Java compilation due to Java's
*ahem* neat way to compile all dependencies at the same time.  Ant fixes
that at least, but there are other ways to do it.
