bibtex was just flashed up on the openoffice.org, just because it is
relateh ere is the email...

OpenOffice Community members,

I am pleased to announce the new Bibliographic OpenOffice Incubator
Project.

The new Project can be accessed through it’s Project Page at

 bibliographic.openoffice.org.

This project has three objectives -

1. To build support with OpenOffice for the formating requirements of
all of
the commonly used style conventions.

2. To develop a function which would enable the format of a document to
be
changed form one style to another with minimal editing.

3. To develop a function which would allow easy import and export of
bibliographic data between OpenOffice and bibliographic databases such
as
BibTeX.

I believe that full support for the common bibliographic style
conventions,
and effective bibliographic data handling, is essential if OpenOffice is
to
gain wide acceptance in Universities, schools, colleges, scientific and
technical institutions.

I invite all people who are interested in this issue to participate in
the
project. You can do this by subscribing to the bibliographic mailing
lists and
contributing to the discussion and decision making.

You can read, via the Project Page, the project documentation that has
been
prepared and make comments and suggestions.

To see how this issue has progressed and the discussion that has been
generated by searching the OpenOffice discuss archive using
‘bibliographic’
as the search term, at -
