[chat] UPS - lightning strike protector

Hi Guys
any ideas on a UPS - surge protector against power outs and lightning? esp 
lightning!
and is Linux friendly...

after lots of electriciry disconnects and friends with blowen-up phones and 
modems from lightning strike, I really need to get a UPS.  In the recent 
summer storms, friends have blown-up phones and modems adn other have have 
VCR, and computer failures.
Lucky I have been vigilant in disconnecting this box every time I leave the 
house, else it would probably be cactus.
