The first time I got o@h connected, mid last year I was told that you could
not run servers. The second time, early this year (after netstats was
introduced), they said that I *could* run a server for *personal* use, such
as webmail or the like, but it is subject to netstats, and would become a
problem if serving lots of stuff.

I've had ssh and http open on the cable router since February, (and other
stuff sporadically), have been scanned by Optus a bunch of times, and have
never had heard a peep from them. Then again, it's only been there for the
convenience of my partner and I, and a couple of clients to see something
we've been working on etc.

I also had SMTP working for a while, by having a dyndns service mx to
another mail server, which routed it through on a different port. They
didn't pick on that either... so I guess either they didn't care, or their
software wasn't smart enough to pick up on it.
