RE: [chat] Termination of FO cable

I also tend to think in terms of optical fibre impedance.
If the cable is matched to whatever it is terminated with now, is there any
guarantee that it will work with the newer standards of fibre optic cable?
Many years (decades?) ago Blue Sky Industries used to sell office
interconnect systems with Sun River (no relation to either Sun Microsystems
or Wind River) fibre drivers (we used it in SCO systems) and fibre to '232
converters for use with greenscreens. That stuff used the screw-type
connectors which might be what Terry is talking about. Possibly if Terry
gives the guys at Blue Sky Inds (Nth Syd) a shout they may be able to
advise. The MD may still have the original stuff in his garage (or wired his
premises with it still).
As far as I recall it was a different impedance compared to the more modern
stuff so you might not be able to get the best output from it.
You should still get something though if you can get someone to terminate it
(back to your original problem).
