Thanks to who ever mentioned xmatrix.

I am now running xmartix as my root window. I also changed from gnome to
blackbox. Its a nice small wm that has a nice look. All I really want in a
wm is a way to start an xterm and something that does workspaces, so it has
what I want.

Now my machine looks real funky.
