You reckon that's crazy? Muhahaha! Try this:
If the app was developed in Python, you could develop a whole bunch of
classes, etc for the web side of things, and publish that application. Then
you could take the backend classes, roll them up in a Java applet and run it
on the client machines.
How? Jython, baby, YEAH!
It's almost .NETish, but it's not a CLR. :( It's Python implemented in Java,
which allows you to at least bind Python and Java code. Pretty cool,
especially in webby environments when you can combine servlets and Python,
yada. It's Neat-O.
Especially for those of us who have a liking for these dastardly BDSM
languages. ;)
[ Actually, a Free Software CLR for would *really* rock for hacking in
Python, Perl, yada. So many times I've wanted to use Perl modules in Python,
random C stuff everywhere, etc. ]
