Well, it works, but..
I have a 15GB IBM drive. All of a sudden, any operating system that looks at
it can only see 2016MB. Where's the rest?
The BIOS still recognises it as right, and looking at a Linux kernel boot
logs, it gets the CHS right, but thinks it's only 2GB. Multiple MS boot
disks are similarly clueless.
But, well, the BIOS still detects it properly, and the utils disk I
grabbed from ibm.com gets it right, and doesn't find any problems with the
drive. I've used to to do a write check, and do the low-level format
thing.
I've tried changing the way the BIOS addresses the drive, and come up with
the same results using CHS, LBA and Large drive addressing. I'm now
completely stumped. Does the collective SLUG conscience have any ideas?
I really don't want to shell out for a new drive..
Cheers,
Peter
