You'll have to resize your partitions to make room for a new one, or just
install Linux on top of one of your existing partitions (once you've backed
up the data).

When you're running through the install process, tell it to install lilo to
the *partition* you're putting Linux on; not the Master Boot Record (MBR).

You can then point XOSL at that partition, and Linux will boot correctly.
